SWIMMING - The World Swimming Championships are currently taking place in Rome, and there is a bit of a fuss going on regarding some swimmers wearing the new swimsuits that make you swim like a dolphin. Well, the swimmer still needs to be good in the first place - the suit is not a robot contraption that makes you cut through the water like Flipper - but at the time of writing the new polyurethane swimsuit has played its part in six new world records being set. Take Germany's Paul Biedermann, for example. Since he started wearing the polyurethane swimsuit he has shaved almost seven and a half second off his personal best in the 400m freestyle, culminating in him breaking the world record on Sunday July 26 2009. Biedermann would not have achieved that without the help from his new polyurethane swimsuit. We at loserscomesecond have a simple yet surely effective solution. The swimming authorities should go back to basics and make the swimmers do their events in the buff. That is right: completely naked, a bit like this woman swimming naked in Rome. The competitiors can still shave the bodies of hair if they want, but they would have to swim in the niff. It would bring equality and end the arguments over swimsuits conferring an advantage on one swimmer over another.
Great idea or what?
