Rugby And Golf Set To Be Olympic Sports

OLYMPICS – Further to this morning’s article the IOC have now announced that golf and rugby have been recommended to be added to the Olympics in 2016. This is not set in stone and it is only a recommendation which has to be finalised in a full meeting in October.

The International Rugby Board (IRB) is delighted with the news as was Ty Votaw, the Executive Director of the International Golf Federation Olympic Golf Committee and who possibly has the longest job title ever, who said that he was “thrilled” at the recommendation. Should sevens rugby get the full vote in October the IRB have said that they will scrap the Sevens World Cup so that the Olympics will be the pinnacle of the sport’s events.

Governing bodies of the other sports are understandably disappointed. As yet loserscomesecond has not received a statement from the Federation of Roller Sports. We promise that when we do we will bring you this breaking news first because it is 'interesting' and you want to know.
