ATHLETICS - Long jumper and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jade Johnson might not be able to return to dance in the show after suffering quite a serious injury during rehearsals for the show on Saturday night. Johnson has got a knee injury after it "made a popping noise" in the words of her dance partner Ian Waite, leaving Johnson in tears at her inability to compete. On the athletics front, Johnson is Britain's leading long jumper and is aiming for a podium finish at the London 2012 Olympics. She is reportedly unwilling to risk further injury in Strictly Come Dancing if it could jeopardise her planned return to training in January.Johnson is a former European and Commonwealth silver medallist and, provided all is well with her, she would be a leading contender for the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona next summer. At the time of writing Jade Johnson and Ian Waite are available at odds of 10/1 with William Hill to win the BBC television show Strictly Come Dancing, but presumably on the back of the news that she might not be competing in the competition again she can be backed at huge odds of 18/1 with Bet365.
