FOOTBALL - Reports suggesting that the mega-rich owner of Manchester City, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has tried to buy Real Madrid have been vehemently denied by the Spanish club. It has been said that Sheikh Mansour is prepared to pay a massive €1billion for Real Madrid and was due to meet the club president, Florentino Pérez, early in the New Year to discuss the details of any such deal. However Real Madrid have denied all knowledge of such a discussion and say the story is exactly that - a story.A statement from Real Madrid on the club's website says: "Real Madrid wishes to inform that Real Madrid president Mr Florentino Pérez has had a great friendship for many years with His Highness, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and that the so-called interest and the existence of any offer to acquire Real Madrid are false.
His Highness has always shown tremendous respect for the club and understands that Real Madrid belongs to its members."
